Cary was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma in 2014, shortly after marrying his soul mate, Denise Nourani. He was a father of one, and had plans on having more kids. In 2016, his became a girl dad for the second time. Since his diagnosis in 2014, Cary changed his lifestyle completely in order to prevent liver mets for as long as possible. He was health conscious and continued to be a phenomenal athlete. Such a good athlete that he was invited, by Spartan, to participate in the Spartan World Championships in October of 2021. He was running 50 miles a week to prepare for the 24 hour endurance competition. Spartan participants are known for having incredible physical and mental strength, as well as a tolerance for pain. That’s who Cary was. Unfortunately, the day before he was set to fly out for the championships, results came in stating the cancer had metastasized to his liver; and was very advanced. Over the next several months, he exhausted all options with the support of his family and friends.
Tragically, after fighting harder and longer than any thought possible, Cary left this world on March 30th, 2022.
Cary was truly one of a kind. It’s easier to say what he wasn’t good at, what talent he didn’t have, and who he came across that he didn’t impact or inspire. Born in Laguna Beach, California, to his mother Nancy Wineberg and father Georges Nourani, Cary was a great athlete and student. As a student, he was valedictorian, nominated by a congressman and was accepted to the Naval academy where he was a top 1% academic athlete. He finished his schooling at USC.
As an athlete, since a young age, he was show to be a gifted wrestler, and later became a high level Jiu Jitsu practitioner. As an employee, he won multiple awards and was loved by all his coworkers.
His talents were numerous; he was a modern day Renaissance man. He spoke English, French and Spanish fluently. He was an artist, actor, comedian, impressionist and the Jeopardy king. He could make anyone laugh and inspired people.
His greatest talent was as a husband and father. The love story of him and his wife, Denise, is one of God’s perfect timing. He was an angel on earth. Their relationship was one of inspiration. True soulmates. Yet, as good a husband as he was, he was an equally great father. He was heavily involved and the best provider. His mission in life was to serve his family. He worked until his final days, to provide for his family. He didn’t lose a battle. There is no winner against time. The only ones who lost are those who had the gift of knowing him, loving him, being inspired by him, and honoring him by pledging everlasting support to his family.
As mentioned above, Cary was a runner, set to participate in a race. And, as an angel on earth becomes an angel in heaven, I am reminded of 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”
Cary is survived by his wife, Denise, daughters Isabella and Natalie, Mother Nancy Wineberg and fathers Georges Nourani and David Wineberg.
