Joan DiPippo’s journey started in the Spring of 2021, where it was discovered that the spot in her eye was cancer, Uveal Melanoma. After getting a first and second opinion, she started her treatment, Kimmtrak, in Boston Massachusetts September of 2022 after learning it spread to her liver, then moving it in the fall of 2022 back to RI. Joan’s treatment helped immensely, keeping the tumors at bay from spreading. Fast forwarding to this year, she learned that the cancer spread to her brain, and with Uveal melanoma, there is only a 4% chance in patients that it spreads to the brain. I , her daughter Anna, highly encourage and recommend to anyone who has this cancer, to please insist on full body MRI’s. Her last Kimmtrak treatment was July 18, 2026, and she succumbed to her cancer on August 30, 2026. She fought this cancer for 5 years till the very end.
