The 2019 Eye Believe Survivorship Seminar is a wrap. This years program was made possible by generous sponsorships by Castle Biosciences, Immunorcore, Delcath and The Angeles Clinic. Set in the wonderful beach town of Redondo Beach CA at the seaside Portofino hotel. The event encouraged relaxation and connecting with others, while learning about living with ocular melanoma.
Kicking off the 4 day event was Dug McGuirk with Revolutionary Growth got everyone ready to put their fears aside and take the challenge to walk on broken glass. While many were fearful of the glass, everyone who took a chance and completed the walk successfully. There were cheers and congratulations as people completed their walk with their team by their side.
Following Dug, we learned about nutrition from the energetic Dr. Arnette with Park View Wellness followed by finances with Joanna Morales with Triage Cancer. To end the day, we all met for happy hour marina side to connect with old friends and make many new one.
Friday we had Thrivorship with Anne Osborn, Care giver sessions, low vision resources and planning for the future with Joanna Morales. The day was a day to explore on your own and see all Los Angeles and Redondo Beach had to offer.
Saturday was a busy day with lots of sessions. Dr. Hamid, Dr. Mruthyunjaya, Dr. McCannel, Dr. Arnette, Dr. Ganji led the medical sessions. The other arm of wellness featured Acupuncture, functional medicine meets western medicine, living with cancer, talking to your kids about cancer, breath work and Tools and Techniques for reducing stress. Saturday night was capped with a gala oceanside. Music from Downtown Michael Brown and his friends got everyone dancing. There were many celebrations including one engagement!
Sunday was a day for learning about advocacy, recapping sessions and lots of hugs and a few tearful goodbyes as people headed home.
